Description

The Watersafe Lead Test Kit is capable of sensing levels of dissolved lead in the water below the EPA-determined Action Level of15 parts per billion (ppb).

Instructions

Remove the contents of the foil packet. The kit includes one dropper pipette, one lead testing strip, one vial, and a desiccant packet (may be discarded).
Place a water sample in the testing vial with the dropper pipette. To acquire a sample, squeeze the bulb at one end of the pipette and then place the open end into the water you wish to test. Release the pressure on the bulb to draw a sample into the vial. Use just one dropper full of water. Gently swirl the vial for several seconds and then place it on a flat surface.
Insert the Watersafe test strip into the vial, with the arrows pointing down into the vial.
Wait 10 minutes without disturbing the strip or vial. You will see blue lines appear on the test strip.
After 10 minutes, remove the strip from the vial to read the results. If the LEFT line (next to number 1) shows up darker than the RIGHT line (next to number 2) OR if only the LEFT line (next to number 1) is visible, the result is negative. If the RIGHT line (next to number 2) shows up darker than the LEFT line (next to number 1) OR if both lines are equal in color, the result is positive.
Note: If you do not see any lines or both lines are light in color, the test did not function properly and the result is invalid. If the test strip is positive, your water may contain a toxic level of lead.
