Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) Grids
DE pool filters offer incredibly fine filtration, the finest of the common pool filtration options. They are known to filter particles down to around 3 microns in size. This is accomplished from a white powder made from fossilized diatoms, which are microscopic marine organisms that left behind shells of porous silica that is perfect for filtration. As a result, your pool water is exceptionally clean and clear.
To maintain these amazing results, however, it is important to keep up on proper maintenance. In addition to regularly application of new Diatomaceous Earth powder, it is necessary to replace the grids themselves. This can be done about every 3 to 5 years, depending upon usage and maintenance practices. The more your pool is used, the greater the demand on the filter grids, shortening their lifespans. However, properly maintained grids can last longer, which includes correct DE powder application and regular inspections.
